CREATIONISM !
Please tell me I'm not the only one who has heard of this! Recently Cobb county public schools
voted unanimously to teach "creationism" as well as evolution in their science classes claiming that they as educators need
to respect the ability of the student to judge for themselves which "theory" they choose to support based on the facts that
they are given . Now please understand I was raised catholic and though I think that organized religion is a bad idea,no one
hopes that there is a God more than I do ! But , as a realist I can only preach on things that I can either prove or at least
present enough evidence that demands my argument to be taken seriously. Unfortunatly the religious right would have
you believe that not only was the earth created by "intelligent design",( a term that they created to make a religious ideal
sound more scientific and thus less uncertain) but that it was done in six days . They stand by this theory because if anyone
were to prove that the Book of Genisis was indeed just a pretty fairy tale then they would have to scrap the Bible alltogether
and start over again. If you feel that your intelligence is not quite insulted enough try this on for size , not
only did some crazy old man who heard voices actually build a wooden ship big enough to support two of every animal on
the planet,(though this also raises the question of how he got all of these animals to travel the vast distances of the planet
to get to his particular location in time to be saved from the floods!) but that the floods themselves were able to cut
a path through many miles of solid granite and other sediments to form the grand canyon in a mere fourty days . As
an avid lover of all kinds of fiction I am usually willing to suspend my disbelief through a respect for the art , but
as the Bible has been proven inaccurate on a number of levels and indeed been found to be hypocritical of itself in many
different ways I find that I can't swallow that lie and by doing so lie to myself.
I would love be able to succumb to blind faith. It would make life so much easier. Life would
seem less scary as well as less uncertain . I would no longer have nightmares of conciously rotting in my coffin for eternity
because of a fear that my soul has nowhere to go. It would no longer matter that people might forget all about me when I die
. The fact of the matter is, however, that modern science has a plethora of evidence and supporting facts that strengthen
the theory of evolution and all the creationists have is a beautiful dream that we can only wish were true. I am afraid that
mankind did away with God in the 17th century with the coming of the age of reason . That is indeed a shame as I personally
find that the thought of awareness and being ending with my death because there may not be a higher power to be scary enough
to drive me insane if I were to focus enough on the subject . But I also will not tolerate being lied to or in turn lie to
others to assure my power over them .
The bottom line is this, people (myself included) need some sort of "higher power" to believe
in or life would not be bareable .But if we have learned anything in the past four thousand years of civilized existance it
is that religion should not be mixed with either science or politics as it tends to distort the issues entirely !

LOVE?
Before you click away in disgust , keep in mind that this is not a bleeding heart manifesto containing
regrets and romantic ideologies! This is an excersize in futility ! We are raised to believe in true love that is everlasting
. " There is someone special out there for everyone !" they say or , " There are plenty of fish in the sea and if you keep
trying you will catch yours !" , but can we really believe this or is this just something that we are told to make us feel
better so that we are better company to whomever told us this ? Now understand that I am not trying to make any particular
point one way or the other , what I am trying to do is put the question to the reader in the hope that someone will
have a better outlook on this that might shed some light on the age old delima of loneliness.
When we are in love we feel that there is nothing that we can't
do , or indeed if we cannot do the things we wish we find that it doesn't really matter because after all we have the perfect
soul mate and we feel blessed to have that . If we are alone in the world it often seems that nothing is possible and we are
destined to an existance of suffering and anguish wondering why we are not good enough for members of the opposite sex . I
think it is important for each and every one of us to feel that we are loved by someone who is not obligated to do so,( i.e.
people who are not related to us . ) .We may find that we can occupy ourselves with hobbies or other intrests but we soon
find that activity is a hollow source of meaning without a complementary share of a direct affection ! So we strive to meet
someone through the bar scene or with personal ads but unfortunatly women go to bars to dance and drink so they are not easily
swayed by our charms and personals are so cold and innacurate that we find ourselves constantly frustrated ! Should we give
up ? Should we pray for an angel ? I don't think we could give up if we tried as it almost seems to be an automatic response
when we see someone that we are attracted to and if we are denied what we pray for it seems to instill a bitterness directed
at whatever it is that we consider our " higher power" . It also seems to impersonal to leave everything up to the law of
averages , and as we all know if it were left to that we might never find what we are kooking for .
Is there an answer ? No . I suppose
that we just have to leave it up to fate ! It's true that she is a cruel mistress , but perhaps she will smile on those who
are dilligent and if not maybe she will take pity on us so that we don't die alone !

Who the f**k is Aaron Sorkin ?
When Rob " the uncanny " is asked whether or not he is truly behind the times he only looks
at his sundial and states in a somewhat archaic manner that time is an illusion and being either in front of or behind it
would be futile if the above statement were true . Have we ever considered that maybe Rob's in box is full ? Maybe all of
you were wrong in the early 1990's and in actuallity Nirvana really wasn't cool until '98 when it then was officially " retro
" .
